The body of a 32-year-old widow who went missing from Ghatkopar on Monday was found stuffed in a sack in Mulund (West) on Tuesday morning.

The deceased, Pratiksha Prakash Bhojane, lived at Bhatwadi in Ghatkopar (West) and had been missing since 3pm on Monday, after which her brother-in-law filed a missing complaint with the Ghatkopar police.
The owner of a cycle mart at NS Road, Mulund, found the sack in front of his shop. Sashi Thakur, one of the workers at the mart, said, “We asked a sweeper to take away the sack but she refused saying it was heavy. We saw blood stains and informed the police, who reached the spot and found a woman’s body stuffed inside the sack.”
Bhojane’s sister identified the body, which was then sent for a post-mortem. Investigations revealed the body had multiple stab injuries and bore signs of strangulation. The police have registered a case of murder.
Bhojane’s husband had passed away three years ago, said the police, after which she had been living with her two daughters, aged 3 and 4 and a son aged 2.
“We are investigating what might have led to the murder of the woman,” said Mahesh Ghurye, deputy commissioner of police, (zone 7).
