Four unidentified men, armed with choppers, robbed a wine shop owner of Rs 1.6 lakh at Kurla when he was returning home in a taxi.

Abhijeet Patil (31), who owns a wine shop in Nehru Nagar, and the taxi driver suffered minor injuries. “On Sunday night, Patil was going home with the day’s earnings when he was robbed. No arrests have been made yet,” said Assistant Commissioner of Police Namdeo Wayal.
Patil claimed that a Maruti Esteem, in which four men were travelling, blocked his taxi’s way on Shiv Shrushti Road. Two men, brandishing choppers, stepped out of the car and threatened Patil to hand over the rexine bag that had Rs 1.6 lakh, the police said.
They attacked the taxi driver, Irfan Shaikh, and broke the vehicle’s windows, injuring Patil. After he handed over the bag and they drove off. The police suspect that the accused were keeping a watch on Patil. htc
