The patients complained of pain soon after having dinner at the wedding. Out of the 53 who were brought to the hospital, 41 had to be admitted, including 16 men, 22 women and three children.

Hospital authorities said the patients had symptoms such as vomiting and loose motions, and are being treated for food poisoning and gastroenteritis. They said all of them were stable and would be discharged soon.

Ramesh Khakale, senior inspector, Nirmal Nagar police station said, “We have sent the patients’ food samples and stomach wash to the forensic science laboratory. If the tests show they suffered from food poisoning, a case will be registered.”
