The accused, Anit Singh Virk, had quit the visa processing company in Lower Parel in 2010 after working with it for more than five years. Earlier this year, Virk allegedly created a fake e-mail ID in the name of the company. “Using the ID, Virk sent some defamatory content about the former company to the Japanese consulate in Thailand. The consulate got in touch with this company and told them about the e-mail,” said an officer from the cyber cell.

Investigations revealed that the mail had been sent from Virk’s internet address in Gurgaon following which he was arrested. Virk was produced before the court on Saturday and was granted bail.
