The officers in question are Sridhar Thalla, Rajesh More, Pramod More, PK Ugale and Anil Lad. Former KDMC commissioner Govind Rathod had proposed that Thalla be dismissed from service, while the other four were given relatively lighter punishments.
The corporators, however, felt that since charges against all were the same, all five deserved equal punishment, and ordered their removal from service. However, sources from the KDMC administration said that the general body does not have the power to overrule the decision made by the earlier commissioner.
The final call on the fate of the five men may now rest with the present KDMC commissioner Ramnath Sonawane.
