Actors move court seeking quashing of FIR
Actor and TV personality Shekhar Suman and comedian Bharti Shah have moved the Bombay high court, seeking to quash a First Information Report (FIR) registered against them for allegedly hurting religious sentiments during a comedy show aired in 2010.

The Pydhonie police had registered an FIR against Suman and Shah in November 2011, following a complaint by a member of Raza Academy, a Muslim body.
The complaint stated that Episode 18 of reality show Comedy Circus had contained jokes that insulted the Muslim community. The complaint also named Sony Entertainment channel, on which the show was aired.
Suman and Shah have filed a petition in the court seeking quashing of the FIR on grounds that the investigations have been carried out and no prima facie case made. Following the complaint, the police had secured a CD and the script of the episode, the petition states. It further contends that Suman was just a judge on the show and the content was a fictional skit.
Public prosecutor Revati Dhere said that the court has adjourned the hearing till August 3.
