Adarsh scam: CBI court rejects six bail pleas

A special CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) court on Saturday rejected fresh bail pleas filed by six accused in Adarsh Co-operative Housing Society scam saying the findings of the Judicial Commission appointed by Maharashtra Government to inquire into the scam were not binding upon the court.

A special CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) court on Saturday rejected fresh bail pleas filed by six accused in Adarsh Co-operative Housing Society scam saying the findings of the Judicial Commission appointed by Maharashtra Government to inquire into the scam were not binding upon the court.

“The criminal court is not bound by conclusions drawn by the two member commission, said special CBI judge MV Kulkarni while rejecting bail applications filed by former civic chief Jairaj Phatak, Ramanand Tiwari, former principal secretary, urban development department and four others.

The others included Indian administrative service officer Pradeep Vyas, major general (retired) TK Kaul, former deputy secretary in urban development department, PV Deshmukh, and chief promoter of the scam-hit housing society and Congress leader, Kanhaiyyalal Gidwani.
