Admission time for students on 1st merit list extended
Students, who made it to the first junior college merit list, can secure provisional admission till 2pm on Friday, after the education department announced an extension to the deadline on Thursday.
Students, who made it to the first junior college merit list, can secure provisional admission till 2pm on Friday, after the education department announced an extension to the deadline on Thursday.
The previous deadline of 2pm on Thursday was extended since heavy rain hampered movement and might have prevented students from making it to colleges in time. “We extended the deadline by a day, but the rest of the schedule stands the same,” said an official from the education department.
The next merit list will be declared at 5pm on Monday. The department informed college principals via text message and also notified zonal education offices and online admission guidance centres across the city about the change in schedule.
The move brought relief to students and parents. “It was pouring in Ghatkopar and trains were erratic. We didn’t think we would make it by car either and were quite worried,” said Nanda Porecha, a parent.
Colleges said some students did manage to come despite the rain.
At Ruia College, 41 students secured their admission on Thursday, with 23 yet to do so. At Jai Hind College, seven students came in on Thursday, with 15 left to secure their admission.
