Crime against senior citizens seems to be on the rise in Ulhasnagar, which reported second such incident in six months on Friday.

An elderly couple — Goverdhan Dalwani, 70, and his wife Kavita, 60 — who used to live alone in barrack number 1198, Camp 3, Ulhasnagar, was found dead by their daughter. The police suspect robbery to be the reason behind their murders.

A retired Central Reserved Police Force (CRPF) official, Dalwanis ran a grocery shop in the neighbourhood.

Deputy commissioner of police Sarang Awad said, “Dalwani’s daughter Deepa came to meet her parents and was surprised to find the doors unbolted. On entering the house, she found her parents had been murdered and entire house had been ransacked. She has also reported loss of valuables and cash from the house.”

Dalwanis are survived by four daughters; two of them live in the same locality while other two are based in Pune.
Six months ago, an elderly woman was found murdered in her flat.
