Amar Singh campaigns for Abu Azmi’s son

Less than a week after resigning from the post of the Samajwadi Party’s (SP) general secretary, Amar Singh appeared at a public rally to support senior SP leader Abu Asim Azmi’s son Farhan, contesting the Bhiwandi by-elections.

Less than a week after resigning from the post of the Samajwadi Party’s (SP) general secretary, Amar Singh appeared at a public rally to support senior SP leader Abu Asim Azmi’s son Farhan, contesting the Bhiwandi by-elections.

“I am not here as a leader,” said Singh who was seated in the audience.

He took a dig at all parties during the rally. “Farhan is not here to play politics. He is contesting this election to support his father against the likes of Raj Thackeray,” Singh said.

He also defended Azmi’s controversial comments on Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray.

Chief Minister Ashok Chavan who also visited Bhiwandi to support Congress candidate Muzaffar Hussain said all projects Hussain proposes will be cleared if he is elected.
