"His condition is stable and there are no complications. He was admitted due to his chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD) and heart-related routine checkup Saturday," chest physician Jalil Parkar told IANS.

The doctors at Lilavati Hospital monitored his health for two days and Monday said that he is fit and stable.

"He will be discharged this (Monday) evening as there is nothing to worry," Parkar added.

Thackeray, 86, had undergone emergency angioplasty at the Lilavati Hospital in July 2009 following respiratory problems, causing concern among family and party members. He was discharged after six days in hospital.

Earlier, in March 2009, Thackeray had spent 11 days in hospital for similar health complaints.
