A strong western disturbance that caused rainfall in New Delhi will influence the city's temperature, said officials from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

"The prevailing western disturbance has already caused heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in Gujarat and parts of northern India. Strong northerly winds are blowing in the city. This will result in a dip in the temperatures," said S Sudevan, director, IMD.

The city witnessed a cool and windy Friday. The minimum temperature recorded at the Santacruz observatory between 8.30am and 5.30pm was 18.5 degrees Celsius and at Colaba, the minimum temperature was 21.8 degrees Celsius. The mercury, however, dipped further in the night.

The maximum temperatures at Santacruz and Colaba also dropped on Friday.
