According to the police, Babbar Singh, a Tardeo resident, worked as a cook and was on his way to buy vegetables when the incident occurred. “Around 6.30am, Singh was trying to cross Shuklaji Street at RS Nimkar Marg. A BEST bus knocked him down and the driver immediately fled the spot,” said Farid Khan, sub-inspector, Nagpada police station.

Singh was rushed to JJ hospital, where he was declared dead on admission. “He had suffered serious internal bleeding,” said Khan.
