Party cadres are busy organising political and cultural programmes to celebrate the occasion of their leader who turns 89 this year.

According to Mumbai BJP President Raj Purohit, 2000 volunteers will use the occasion to pledge their dedication to ensuring a win for the party in the 2014 assembly polls. “Vajpayeeji is our inspiration and we will all take oath in his name,” said Purohit.

In the last few months, the BJP, flush with its success in the civic polls, has been holding a slew of programmes and agitations against the ruling Democratic Front (DF) government.

Another party leader Amarjeet Mishra is holding a programme Atal Geet Gana where the poems written by Vajpayee would be read by celebrities like Sudha Chandran and Roopkumar Rathod.

In addition, various personalities like historian Babasaheb Purandare and actor Kirron Kher would be felicitated.
