On Saturday, senior BJP leader Vinod Tawde had written a letter to Chief minister Prithviraj Chavan asking him to form the committee. He also suggested a list of parameters, such as projects given without tenders, project wise planning and results, name of contactors, and details on change of scope of projects, to be included in the white paper.

This demand comes a day after a meeting between Chavan and former deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar.

According to Tawde, officials within the department will draw up the white paper on irrigation, which is not a transparent process.

“Choosing officials from other departments will ensure some transparency in the process. The CM should accept this if he wants to keep his chair,” he said.
