In its campaign against unauthorised hawkers, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), on September 20 and 21, demolished illegal stalls in Andheri, Khar and Bandra during a surprise check.

“We have demolished 600 illegal stalls in two days and expect to collect fines of Rs 12 lakh," BMC’s deputy municipal commissioner, Rajendra Bhosale, told PTI. The BMC will continue to take action against illegal hawkers as they create problems for residents, he said.
