The bodies of the three boys who drowned at Aksa beach were fished out on Monday.
The three were identified as Shiv Gupta, 12, Mayur Gaikwad, 12, and Jeetu Pashte, 14, all of whom resided at Nivetia Compound Colony in Malad (East).
The three had gone with six others to the beach to play a game of cricket.
“The boys had not informed their parents. They went into sea despite being warned about the rough waters by food vendors on the beach,” said an official from the Malwani police.
While Shiva was a Class 6 student at a civic school, Mayur studied in Class 7 at Pandurang Wadi school while Jeetu, was studying in Class 9 in an English-medium school.
A neighbour said there had told their families that they were going to a Kandivali-based factory where Ganpati idols were being made.
Mayur, a neighbour said, has a mentally challenged brother, Siddharth, who hasn't been told about the incident.
“Siddharth keeps insisting that we should look for Mayur and that he must be around. He won't be able to comprehend that Mayur is no more,” the neighbor said.
