Last month, deputy chief engineer (building proposal), city, S Darade issued the circular to the entire department stating that the concerned staff should verify that a board has been displayed on the sites. However, activists said the staff has not begun verification.

“When we tried to seek information from the department through the Right to Information Act about any ongoing construction, the executive engineer rejected our application on the grounds that the CS number is not mentioned. Therefore, an appeal was made to Darade which resulted in the circular being issued,” said social activist GR Vora.

RTI activist Kamlakar Shenoy said, “None of the required information is disclosed on any of the construction sites in the city. This is to restrict the common man from accessing project details.”

N Gade, assistant engineer from the building proposal department, C Ward, said, “I am not aware of such a circular.”

Some developers, however, said they have started putting up the boards. Kiran Jadhav, chief operating officer, Shivalik Ventures said, “We have displayed the boards with the information, including the CS number, on all our sites.”
