The civic body on Thursday said it would implement the BRTS on Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road, which connects Eastern Express Highway to Sion-Panvel highway.

“Tenders have been floated, and we expect work to begin in the first week of November,” said civic standing committee chairman Rahul Shewale.

The Rs. 207-crore project, which includes the widening of the road and concretisation of the service road, is expected to be completed in two to three years. Both sides of the road will have a 7.5-metre lane for buses.

The success of this experiment will determine whether the BRTS will be implemented on other city roads.
