The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) admitteed on Friday that 164 pothole locations out of the 309 identified on Tuesday are yet to be filled. Of the 164, 53 are in the island city, 85 in the western suburbs and 26 in the eastern suburbs.
On Wednesday, Chavan had asked the BMC and other state government agencies to repair all roads before Ganpati immersion processions began from Friday. It was the third such deadline set by the government.
"We are trying our best, but it all depends on the rains," said Aseem Gupta, additional municipal commissioner (Roads).
Officials from the road department said, "We will first repair roads near Ganesh immersion locations and the rest later."
