Mahanagar Gas Ltd (MGL) said CNG will now cost Rs33.95 a kg in Mumbai city. However, in adjoining Thane, Navi Mumbai, Bhiwandi and Mira-Bhayander areas, the rate will be Rs34.12, Rs34.29, Rs34.97 and Rs34.37 respectively.

Terming the 2.57% hike, as a ‘marginal increase’, MGL in its release said the hike was “due to increase in overall input costs”. It said that even after revision, CNG offered savings of about 69% and 42% as compared to petrol and diesel at current petrol and diesel prices in the city.
