CNG supply back, taxis and autos to ply in city today

Mahanagar Gas Ltd (MGL), on whom taxis and rickshaws depend for CNG, said supplies have been restored completely.

By Tuesday evening, more rickshaws were visible in the suburbs after they had filled their tanks. “Commuters will face no problems. We expect all rickshaws to tank up on Tuesday night,” said Shashank Rao, of the Mumbai Auto Rickshaw Union. The union expects 90% of the fleet to run on Wednesday.

Taxi unions too said services would normalise on Wednesday. “Almost 98% of taxis didn’t ply,” said AL Quadros, general secretary of the Mumbai Taximen’s Union.

MGL said the pipeline has been repaired. “All 150 CNG outlets are getting regular supplies,” said a spokesperson.
