Commerce grads to get preference in Round 2 of journalism entrance test

Commerce graduates, who could not apply for a course in Masters in Communication and Journalism at the University of Mumbai because their results were declared late, need not fret. The department is holding another entrance test on August 7.

“There are five seats left and we will give Commerce graduates first preference. Only if they don’t take it up, will we offer it to others,” said Magnesh Karandikar, head, Department of Communication and Journalism.

Commerce graduates interested in pursuing the course, approached the student wing of the MNS, which then wrote to the vice chancellor and met the department officials.

“We should not miss out on opportunities because our results were announced late. It is not our fault the university declared our results after two months,” said a student who did not wish to be named.

But department officials said they have always had a second round of admissions for the course, so students did not have reason to worry.

In the past eight years, barely one or two Commerce graduates opted for the course.
