Computerised caste certificates in Maharashtra soon

Admitting that applications of caste validation had piled up to 1,36,320 till May-end, Maharashtra Government today said a software for providing computerised caste certificates would be ready in a month.

Admitting that applications of caste validation had piled up to 1,36,320 till May-end, Maharashtra Government on Thursday said a software for providing computerised caste certificates would be ready in a month.

Software company Mastek was on the job and the process would be completed in a month's time, Social Justice Minister Shivajirao Moghe told the Assembly during Question Hour.

"Beneficiaries will get the computerised caste validation certificate within three months of applying."

He said district-level caste validation committees will be set up with powers wresting with Additional Collector.

The Minister said for an elected representative it has been made mandatory to submit caste validation certificate within four months of election.
