MUMBAI: A magistrate’s court will decide on the application of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) seeking non-bailable arrest warrants against eight Gurgaon policemen, a local politician, Manoj Binder, and Sandeep Gadoli’s girlfriend, Divya Pahuja, in an alleged encounter of the gangster in a Mumbai hotel in February.

Pahuja could not be traced by an SIT team, which will now wait until tomorrow to get the arrest warrants. If the warrants are issued, the accused will be brought to Mumbai.

The SIT has been investigating the alleged fake encounter of Gadoli by Gurgaon policemen that occurred in the hotel Airport Metro on February 7, 2016. The police alleged that Pahuja, who was in the room at the time of the incident, gave false statement to the SIT, which was later cleared after the cops got the CCTV footage of the whole incident.

Pahuja had also tipped off the Gurgaon police about Gadoli’s location. The Gurgaon cops had even tried to damage a CCTV camera facing Gadoli’s room, but this act was captured by another CCTV camera, a police source had said. On the day of the encounter, Binder was in touch with one of the policemen. He is reportedly a rival of Gadoli. Police officials have also added sections 193, 182 and 120B of the IPC against the eight cops along with Pahuja.
