CR earns Rs 1.57 cr from film shoots

Central Railway is raking in the moolah, thanks to film and advertisement shoots. In 2009-10, the Central Railway (CR) earned Rs 1.57 crore from renting railway stations, trains and car sheds for film shoots as against Rs 81 lakh in 2008-09.

In 2009-10, the Central Railway (CR) earned Rs 1.57 crore from renting railway stations, trains and car sheds for film shoots as against Rs 81 lakh in 2008-09.

The recent advertisement for the Mumbai Indians team of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) on February 7 fetched the CR Rs 1.25 lakh. It had earned Rs 66,000 from an IPL ad shot at Koparkhairane in January.

This year, 28 films and advertisements were shot on CR property, mostly at CST.

And the highest it earned was Rs 63 lakh from the Tamil film Endhiran, starring Rajnikant and Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan.
CR got Rs 10.92 lakh for allowing the shoot of the yet-to-be-released Raavan, starring Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya.
