Pitroda, who was speaking at a convention on Towards Excellence in Higher Education at Welingkar Institute of Management on Saturday, said, “The bill in its current form does not give a lot of answers and speaks of a bit more control.”

Former vice-chancellor of the University of Mumbai Vijay Khole spoke about the necessity to adopt a credit based system in Indian institutes.

Addressing heads from various colleges, he asked, “For how long will you continue to be tied to the mother university and its 150-year-old practices?”
