Dadar suicide: Husband in police custody

Ruchir Chheda, the husband of the 30-year-old wealth manager from Dadar who allegedly committed suicide on Sunday afternoon, was remanded in police custody till April 25 by the Kurla metropolitan magistrate’s court, said police inspector S Sawant from the Matunga police station. HT reports.

Ruchir’s mother Neeru, 62, who was arrested for abetting the suicide of her daughter-in-law, Komal, was remanded in judicial custody, added the police.

On Sunday, Komal’s body was found hanging by Ruchir and Komal’s in-laws at their fourth floor flat in Laxmi Sadan building in Dadar (West).

Komal’s brother, Dr Rushabh Dedhia said, “We suspect Komal was murdered as she spoke to me and my wife a few hours before her body was ‘found’. She did not seem under any pressure.”

According to the police and Komal’s family members, her post-mortem report has yet not been given by the Sion hospital. Dr Sandhya Kamath, dean of Sion hospital said, “We handed over Komal’s body to her family members after giving them a provisional post-mortem report.”
