Underworld gangster DK Rao’s brother will contest the February 16 civic polls from Dharavi under the banner of the Republican Party of India.

RPI chief Ramdas Athavale welcomed Sabba Reddy Bora, the brother of Rao, whose original name is Ravi Mallesh Bora, to the RPI fold on Friday.
“Why should family members of dons be branded criminals and denied tickets?” said Athavale.
“I faced the same criticism when I inducted Chhota Rajan’s brother in my party.”
Sabba will contest from ward number 175, which is Dharavi’s Kala Killa.
Sabba distanced himself from his brother.
“I don’t have any relations with him,” he said.
“I am from the backward class so I joined this party.”
DK Rao, who is Chhota Rajan’s chief lieutenant, is one of the biggest gangsters in Mumbai. He has been involved in various cases of extortion and murder.
He survived an encounter with the Mumbai police in 1998 and has served 13 years of jail term since then. Rao, who is currently lodged in Arthur Road jail, has tremendous clout in Dharavi.
The RPI has tied up with the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance and is contesting 29 seats in the civic elections.
