Drug addict surrenders after killing mother in Vikhroli

A murder case was lodged against a 30-year-old man on Monday at Vikhroli police station for allegedly killing his mother, because he wanted money from her for drugs. He surrendered himself at the police station after the murder, the police said, reports HT Correspondent.

A murder case was lodged against a 30-year-old man on Monday at Vikhroli police station for allegedly killing his mother, because he wanted money from her for drugs. He surrendered himself at the police station after the murder, the police said.

The police have identified the accused as Vikas Kharat, a resident of Kannamwar Nagar in Vikhroli. Kharat, is a drug addict and an alcoholic, officials said.

The police records say that Kharat allegedly got into a fight with his mother, after she refused to give him money for drugs. The accused reportedly lost his temper and assaulted his mother with a blunt object on her head. “He later strangulated her, leading to her death,” said a police officer.

Kharat, who is jobless, later surrendered himself and allegedly confessing to the murder.
