Friends beat history-sheeter to death over game of cards

Rupesh More, 26, was playing cards with Sambhaji Bhalerao, 35, Vinod Toradmal, 23, Rahul Bhalerao, 23, and Ankush Bhalerao, 34, at Goli Bar Road in Ghatkopar (West) on Monday night. More won Rs1,500 in the games and the accused asked him for a treat.

“More told the accused that they never gave him a treat after winning a game and hence he would not take them out either. More then got abusive after which the four accused overpowered him and hit him on his head with stumps,” said inspector R Kothmire from the Ghatkopar police station.

More succumbed to his injuries at the Rajawadi Hospital on Tuesday evening.

Another officer talking on condition of anonymity said, “More was a history-sheeter with several cases of theft, robbery and assault. He has been externed from the area as well.”

The officer added that More and all the accused were under the influence of alcohol when the incident took place. The accused were arrested from their Indira Nagar residence in Ghatkopar on Tuesday evening on the charge of murder.
