The higher education department is creating Maharashtra Talent Scheme where students will be trained for government exams such as the Union Public Service Commission, which recruits officers for the Indian Administrative Services, Indian Foreign Services, Indian Police Services among other Central services.

These students will have to take a test and if they make the mark, they will be trained by the state and given scholarships.

“We want a greater representation of Maharashtra at the national level. The concept is still being fine-tuned and the proposal will be ready within a week,” said higher and technical education minister Rajesh Tope.

A similar talent hunt is held at the school level, where high school students can win scholarships to complete their graduation.
