The girl, who was the daughter of a watchman, had been missing since Friday. The police had earlier suspected that the girl was raped and then murdered.

Sanjay Diwadkar, senior police inspector, Gamdevi police station, said, “The girl’s autopsy report confirmed that she has not been raped. The girl stayed with her parents on a footpath at Grant Road.”

On Saturday the locals of Grant Road informed the police about the body. When they reached the spot the police found the girl’s hands and legs tied.

“Due to circumstantial evidences we had suspected that the girl had been raped before murder but now we have ruled out the possibility of rape and lodged a murder case against an unidentified person,” said Diwadkar.

On investigation the police found that a few drug addicts from the area were missing after the body was recovered. The police suspect that one of them might have killed her.
