Karuna rao, who was attacked by the arrested traffic constable , speaks.

I am not satisfied with the outcome as the traffic police constable Sandeep Gawde has managed to go scot-free.

Though the police finally managed to nab Gawde, he was out within hours. If policemen act like this, where will the common man go to report injustice done to them? He is a policeman and he could have taken me to the police station if I had done anything wrong. What kind of a person would do this to a woman?

He claims that he was rushing to the hospital as his son was unwell, and that it was my fault. Then why did he waste so many minutes abusing me, bashing me up and then damaging my car? He should have left straightaway.

I am not crazy to implicate him in the case and batter my own car. I do not even know him.

I am the head of my house. My father died several years ago and I take care of my mother and my sister. I could not go to work for 12 days as I was running to the police station to make sure that this man is nabbed.

I had written letters to several politicians so that my voice could be heard. And the man just walks free after what I have been through?

I have always shared a very good rapport with policemen. Whenever there used to be a problem with hooligans during festivities, I used to approach them and they would take instant action against them, but after this incident I have lost faith in the police force.

Everybody should be given the right to deal with such problems. Would I have been given the same treatment if I was on the other side?

As told to Little Yadav.
