A mobile shop owner, his mother and sister were arrested for abetting his wife’s suicide.

The 27-year-old woman was found hanging in her Mumbai Central residence on Tuesday night.
The accused, Sohail Sheikh (30), his mother Mumtaz (55) and his sister, Siddiqa (28) were arrested on Wednesday.
The trio was booked on charges of harassment and abetment of suicide. Sohail owns a mobile shop at Crawford market.
According to the Nagpada police, Naheed Shaikh married Sohail five years ago. The couple has a three-year-old son.
“Naheed was alone as Sohail had not returned from work,” said Senior Inspector S.L. Kadam.
“At 11 pm, Mumtaz came to the flat but no one answered the door,” Sub-Inspector Jaideep Gaikwad.
“After Sohail returned, he informed Naheed’s brother. The duo unlocked the door with a spare key and found Naheed hanging.”
She was rushed to JJ hospital where she was declared dead before admission.
“A suicide note written in English was found. Naheed held the three responsible for her death,” said Gaikwad.
“We are investigating whether it was a case of dowry harassment,” added Kadam.
