Protecting her interest in the residence at Marlow housing society in Worli, Indrani Mukerjea, who has been booked for her daughter Sheena Bora’s murder, has sent a legal notice to the society claiming that though the flat was gifted to Vidhie, she has interest in the property and that the flat cannot be sold without her consent.

The three-page notice sent to the society is in response to the possible plan of her husband Peter Mukerjea, who intends to sell the flat, for his legal defence. Peter also has been arrested in the murder case. Sources close to the family said the notice was given just to make sure that in case if the society is approached for a no-objection for the sale of the property they should not give it, in view of the gift agreement dated January 7, 2011.

After the wedding, Peter had transferred 50% shares of the flat to Indrani. Later in 2011, the property was transferred through a gift deed to Indrani’s daughter Vidhie. She is Indrani’s daughter from her previous husband Sanjeev Khanna. He is also an accused in the case.

Under one of the clauses of the gift deed, the property though transferred to Vidhie, Indrani and Peter would have a lifetime interest in the property if they choose to stay there. In view of these, Indrani has stated that the property cannot be sold without her consent.

Sources revealed that the notice is given to only point out these clauses in the gift deed to the society so that they should not give any “no-objection certificate” in case they are approached for the transfer for the same.

After the arrest in the Sheena Bora murder case, both Peter and Indrani seem to be at loggerheads. While Peter had blamed that Indrani had misguided him and he knew nothing what went behind his back, Indrani has told the CBI that he knew everything and she had informed him about the murder.

According to the prosecution, the three accused – Indrani, her former driver Shyamvar Rai and Khanna — had kidnapped Sheena from Bandra and strangulated her in the car on April 24, 2012, and dumped her body in a suitcase. The next day, they allegedly burned the suitcase in Pen, Raigad.
