Katju seeks pardon for another 1993 blasts convict

After voicing his support for actor Sanjay Dutt, chairman of press council, justice Markandey Katju, now wants Zaibunnisa Kazi, 70, who has been convicted in 1993 blasts case, to be pardoned as well.

After voicing his support for actor Sanjay Dutt, chairman of press council, justice Markandey Katju, now wants Zaibunnisa Kazi, 70, who has been convicted in 1993 blasts case, to be pardoned as well.

Katju, in his blog, has stated that he will soon appeal to the president/governor seeking pardon for Kazi, adding that he had received an email from Kazi’s daughter requesting him to appeal for her mother.

While Dutt was convicted under the Arms Act and sentenced to five years’ rigorous imprisonment, Kazi was sentenced under Tada to five years in jail for storing an AK-56 and hand grenades.
