“He has switched off his mobile phone which has made it difficult to ascertain his location,” said Ramrao Pawar, additional commissioner of police (north region).

Pawar added that Pathak left Mumbai, but didn’t go to his hometown. The police earlier detained his two close aides.

The police had arrested seven persons for their involvement in the kidnapping and murders of four — Chetan Dhule, 24, Dinesh Ahire, 26, Ganesh Karnaje, 24 and Bharat Kudle, 27, whose bodies were found in Kurar. They were produced in the court on Wednesday. They have been remanded to police custody for three more days.
