Singer Lata Mangeshkar has approached the Bombay High Court seeking relief against the notice issued to her studio, Jay Prabha Studio, a notified Heritage Grade III structure, by Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC).

A division bench of Justice D.D. Sinha and Justice Mridula Bhatkar on Tuesday asked the counsel for KMC, Srinivas Patwardhan, to file a reply in four weeks. Mangeshkar (80) filed the petition seeking quashing of the notice issued by the KMC in July asking her not to carry out further repair work of a shed outside her studio.

The KMC had asked Mangeshkar not to carry out construction without prior permission and has sent her three notices on the same issue.
