The CM’s office did not comment on the meeting that lasted 30 minutes. Gulabchand left Mantralaya without speaking to the media.

The meeting held much significance in view of the raging controversy over Lavasa, which has been asked to stop work by the Union ministry of environment and forest (MoEF) for alleged environment violations. Lavasa management has refuted all charges and is fighting related cases in the MoEF and the Bombay high court.

A top-ranking officer, who knows the matter, said Gulabchand, who also heads Hindustan Construction Company, had sought an appointment with the CM to discuss several things.
