The police said Fakir Mohammed Aslam and five of his friends barged into his cousin Ahmed Ansari’s (37) room at a chawl at Handia Street in Nagpada and stabbed him, his two sisters and their husbands.

The JJ Marg police said there was a dispute over the ownership of the room.

Aslam, who has many cases registered against him, including a murder case, and his accomplices are absconding, the police added.

Ansari and his sisters, Yasmin (34) and Parveen (32), along with their husbands, Irshad (37) and Sarang (35), were recuperating at JJ Hospital.

“We have booked the accused for rioting and attempt to murder and are presently trying to trace them,” said Assistant Police Inspector S. Kodunkar of JJ Marg police station.

According to the statements of Ansari and his sisters, Aslam wanted the room to be transferred in the name of his son, Najib (26).

The matter is pending with the small causes court.
