Marathi writer Karandikar passes away

Noted Marathi writer Govind Vinayak passed away here today following a brief illness.

Karandikar (92), also known as Vinda Karandikar, was not keeping well for sometime and passed away at the Bhabha hospital in the city.

An iconic Marathi poet, Karandikar, was awarded with the prestigious Jnanpeeth award, India’s highest literary recognition.

He was also an essayist, critic and has translated Aristotle’s poetry into Marathi.

Karandikar was regarded as the most experimental among the modern Marathi poets.
