Accompanied by civic officials, Jadhav and Shewale started the visits late on Friday evening.

“The civic administration should inquire into how potholes have come up on the roads, which are in their guarantee period. If the contractor is found guilty, he or she should be blacklisted immediately,” said Shewale.

An article published in the Hindustan Times on Friday reported that no guidelines had been followed while filling potholes.

“We will check if the specifications are being followed. If they aren’t, the contractors shoul be fined,” said Shewale.

Jadhav and Shewale will visit the eastern and western suburbs. In the western suburbs, the condition of roads is the worst. Stating that the onus lies on the civic body, the mayor said: “If the administration had done a better job, we would not have had to visit the road.”
