Shivprasad Kurmi, a flourmill owner, was arrested on Thursday night after the victims’ mothers lodged a complaint with the Bhandup police. Based on their statements, a case under sections 354 (outraging the modesty of a woman) and 376 (rape) was registered.

“As per the medical reports, the accused did not have sexual intercourse with the two three-year-old girls and the rape charges against Kurmi will be dropped,” said Srirang Nadgouda, senior inspector, Bhandup police.

On Thursday afternoon, Kurmi, who owns a flour mill located close to the victims’ residence, allegedly lured the two girls to his mill and molested them.

At around 4.30 pm, the mother of one of the victim’s found her daughter crying and questioned her. The girl then told her mother about the incident.
