In response to the report on the redevelopment clash between residents of Giriraj Apartments at Altamount Road, (May 3), the managing committee of the building has clarified its stand on the issue. While one group backed a self-development plan for the building, the other group approached the ‘Stop Scam Redevelopment’ forum to oppose it.

The letter to HT signed by Hasmukh Zaveri, the chairman of the building, states, “Though the building is old, whether to repair it or redevelop it cannot be decided by members of the managing committee on an impulse. A detailed study is required, which members of the committee are working on.”

It also states, “It is a matter of regret that a few members without understanding or with no knowledge of the maintenance requirement of the building have been lobbying for its repairs. The managing committee will take a decision only after a thorough study has been made.”
