Milk adulteration racket busted near Malad

A team led by the Bangur Nagar police busted a milk-adulteration racket at a slum located in Malad (west) on Wednesday. The team arrested 14 milkmen involved and seized around 600 to 700 litres of adulterated milk.

A team led by the Bangur Nagar police busted a milk-adulteration racket at a slum located in Malad (west) on Wednesday. The team arrested 14 milkmen involved and seized around 600 to 700 litres of adulterated milk.

A team of 70 officials conducted the raid at Jevrukarwadi around 4.30 am after they were informed about the adulterated milk sold to the residents. The residents had complained about the milkmen mixing water into the milk.

“We were planning this raid for the past few months. When informed that they practice it at dawn, we decided to break in early,” said Raghunath Bagul, senior inspector, Bangur Nagar police station.The arrested milkmen will be produced before a metropolitan court on Thursday.
