The police have registered a case of kidnapping and rape against an unknown person.

The police said the girl, who stays with her family at Khairani Road at Sakinaka, was playing outside when she was abducted around 3pm.

When her parents did not find her outside the house they first asked the locals and then approached the police and lodged a missing person’s complaint with the Sakinaka police.

Around four hours later at 7pm, the victim’s father, a truck driver, got a call informing him that his daughter was in Powai.

“The girl remembered her father’s mobile number. When she was seen roaming around alone and crying, locals approached and they got her father and called him,” said S Dhanedhar, senior police inspector.

The girl was taken to Rajawadi Hospital for medical test. “The doctors confirmed that the victim had injuries on her private parts, indicating that she was raped,” added Dhanedhar.

The girl is in a state of shock. However, she told the police that the man who abducted her was a stranger.
