Most complaints of potholes from Dadar-Mahim stretch

The second highest number of complaints (54) has come from the R-central ward, which includes Borivli and Kandivli.

These complaints were registered on the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s pothole tracking system on www.voiceofcitizen.com.

In both wards, the BMC has not yet filled a single pothole. Officials said they are waiting for a dry spell, without which work cannot be done.

“It is not advisable to carry out repairs during rain. Contractors can start filling the craters only once the rain stops,” said DR Dixit, chief engineer, roads, BMC.

Activists alleged that several pothole complaints filed earlier in June remain unaddressed. “Complaints that were registered in early June are not yet attended. Hi-tech pothole-tracking systems are introduced for our convenience, but the BMC implements nothing,” said Nikhil Desai, a Matunga-based activist.

Dixit argued that there is no such problem. “Road engineers have been assigned to monitor the complaints and they are doing their job,” he said.
For this monsoon, the BMC has allocated Rs59 crore for filling potholes.

Shantanu Kulkarni from Probity Soft, which developed the software, said: “Most complaints were of potholes that were filled last year but reopened.”
