Phadnavis, who was speaking on the governor’s address, said the government had, until March 15, disbursed only Rs120 crore of the compensation meant for farmers cultivating cotton, paddy and soya bean on 75 lakh hectares of land.

While the state government has made provision for Rs1,585 crore in its supplementary budget, only Rs120 crore of the money has been spent. He pointed out that unless the farmers got the compensation on time to recover their losses, the compensation announcement was a sham.
