Mumbai: 10-day-old baby found in dustbin

Residents of Seva Nagar slums in Santacruz found a 10-day-old baby girl wrapped in cloth and abandoned in a dustbin near Milan subway on Thursday evening. HT reports.

Residents of Seva Nagar slums in Santacruz found a 10-day-old baby girl wrapped in cloth and abandoned in a dustbin near Milan subway on Thursday evening.

Locals informed the police, who took the baby to Sion hospital, Vakola police said.

“The baby is in good health and has been admitted to Sion hospital. We are looking for eyewitnesses to the incident to trace the baby’s parents,” Rajendra Pardeshi, senior inspector, Vakola police said.

Police have registered a case under section 317 (exposure and abandonment of child under 12 years by parent or person having care of it) of the Indian Penal Code against unknown persons.
